My Gel Nail Course Story

I was doing my own nails for many years, I thought I was improving, but sometimes the colour would bubble or peel off way too early, I wanted really to do what I enjoyed as a hobby into a full time job. So I started my search for a gel nail course. It was hard, life was tough in those days (and now!) and I was still in university, after researching LOTS of gel nail courses. I took one, qualified and eventually started my own business.

Since then I’ve never looked back! I’ve always enjoyed being creative, and now I basically do graphic design every day! I love being able to provide a variety of services for my clients and have earned some great tips from them too.

Most of my clients are looking for a “pretty” change, but some want to be able to have a creative outlet, these people see their nails as a fashion accessory. I love that my work is so highly appreciated and is used in amazing ways.

The colours, designs, and concepts that I create are often taken to the next level by my clients who ask for gems, and glitter stones to accentuate their nail designs.What made me design an ultimate full nail technician course include a gel nail course element, was my experience on the nail course I took.

After years of working as a nail technician I could see where the course went wrong, how they wasted practical time on theory that would be better taught at home as part of a blended learning element, how a 3 day course would after the theory was taken out would in reality be more like a half or ¾ day course.

Why not let people learn in their own time then have a FULL practical day instead, no more having to take time off work, or multiple days off. It was a new way of doing things, and I believe completely revolutionary at the time.

I still remember being the first nail technician to do gel nails in my area out of my own home! Things have come a long way since then, but at the start I remember I had a gel nail art session with my friend where I painted her nails and showed her how to do gel nails herself, it was an easy process.

Very soon after I wondered who else I could teach and started training my friends and acquaintances soon, we were an entire student house full of nail techs we’d have ques outside the door, I remember the police coming round because they thought we were having a rave #illegalnails #ravenails am I right?

Seriously though I can’t imagine a better way of paying your way through university or college than doing nails, its one of the most enjoyable jobs going. Satisfying in so many ways. Yes you need customer service skills, don’t worry they are included on the course, but honestly just treat people how you would like to be treated and you can’t go far wrong!
