I was first introduced to Briogeo in 2014 through my Ipsy subscription with the Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask and really enjoyed it! Back then, Briogeo was near impossible to find in Canada, but now that the brand is readily available at Sephora, a large chunk of my haircare is from this brand and with good reason! I love the instant results of hair masks because my colour-treated hair is so dry and I used to try to avoid using silicones, which made Briogeo a great option, but now I am more relaxed about it so whether a product has silicones or not does not matter to me as long as my hair feels and looks good! I go through hair masks quite quickly as I use one 2-3x a week and though I have my favourites, I also like mixing it up like with this conditioning hair cap system!
A lot of the hair cap style masks I have tried or seen involve sleeping with what amounts to a shower cap which is not my idea of restful sleep. I also don’t wash my hair in the mornings which means that my routine kind of gets messed up so when I saw that this Briogeo Hair Cap system took a relatively short time (you only need to wear the mask at least 15 minutes to see results), I knew this was the perfect one for me so I bought a pack of 4 back in 2018. I know, I know. I am a little late in featuring these, but you know how it is…
This is a crown to tip hair treatment comprised of a deep conditioning treatment mask containing a blend of algae, biotin, panthenol and rose hip oil and a hair cap with a built in essence of plant oils and algae. This system is intended to reduce breakage, strengthen and restore hair to a healthy shine!
You need to apply ALL of the product, even if you think you have too much, to your hair and massage into the strands for 30 seconds. I have long hair and I had MORE than enough product so no one should be running out! The mask is a thick cream with a neutral scent and was easy to work into my hair.
Once your hair is thoroughly soaked in hair mask, it is time to don the essence infused hair cap which is like a lightweight shower cap. Massage the cap onto the hair for a couple of seconds and then chill and watch a few episodes of your favourite show. You can leave this on for an hour for some seriously intense conditioning which is exactly what I did!
Then I headed to the shower to rinse out and though it said not to use conditioner, I think I could have used some leave-in conditioner as my hair was a bit more tangled than usual. My hair was very soft though!
Final verdict: I am glad I got a pack of 4 because I did enjoy the idea of doing my hair mask outside of showering if only to do other things around the house! I felt like this did the job and my advice for those of you with coarse and/or colour treated hair like me is to add a little dose of conditioner for just the ends of your hair just to make it easier to comb through.
